I’ve been trying different ways to get a gallery to work for my site, and I think I found one that is pretty good. So I tested it and posted it on the FTP to see if it would work. It works, which amazed me cause I figured some kinda problem would occur.
The Gallery is by Stu Nicholls.

I’ve managed to get two pages from my final online. Well its only the splash page and the home page, I might remove the splash page not sure whether its really needed.
Oddly enough I had plenty of odd problems with the simplest parts of the code, managed to fix them after nearly yanking out my hair. All help/tips/donations welcome.

Reading this blog I was thinking on were I stand in the group of people out there. A good or great designer, and I concluded that I am neither. Its just that I am blessed with plenty of time to sit and troll through sites. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t think up of most of the designs on my page on my own. Sites like CSS Zen Garden provide plenty of inspiration and helpful little ideas.
I see the idea of why he says its not a bad thing to copy since there are time constraints and other job related things. Its hard to come up with anything original in this day and age anyways. Its almost guaranteed that anything you say do or think of has already been done or thought of by another living person. With that said I guess we are all going to have to do what we were told was wrong in grade school, we will copy borrow and steal to make a living; that is within reason.

Comp 1
Comp2
These are the comps that got the best remarks from everyone in class. I took notes down for what I have to correct or fix, and also some ideas on what I probably could change. I am placing them up again just incase anyone has any further input to give. Thanks.
Btw, wordpress has some odd issues with html tags so I couldn’t place them as thumbnails so theyre going to have be links.

So my design process seems to differ from what some of you have posted. Some of you sit in the the silence to think, which is rather hard for me to do, while others write out ideas on paper. I don’t really go and do that either, i sit listening to music or the random sounds from the tv and look through the web at things.
After a while I start to build the look in my head and if it starts to look good I scratch it onto a piece of paper, which ended up being a syllabus. After I get a few down, I went and opened illustrator and started to basically do them all on there, one page comps. then I looked and modified the ones I liked and deleted the others. Thats basically I how I do things, its a rather slow process and it ends up with me arguing with myself a lot and with me walking out of the apartment to get a breath of air.
I managed to get my comps out and everything. I know I probably need to add or remove things to them but the people I asked for insight weren’t really helpful. So I am looking forward to getting help.

So I’ve been working on my comps like everyone else, and I’ve realized that even though my topic is a very colorful and vibrant one my comps are lacking.
Even though I know that simplicity can speak volumes, at times I feel that there could be more; especially with this topic.
So if anyone has any tips for me or is willing to aid me with some of the visual part I’ll be very thankful.
